GoGreenTube.com to Replace YouTube in Hosting National Wildlife Federation's Environmental Chill Out Contest - news from Boston.com
Reston, VA. (August 20) Colleges and
universities are stepping up to the call for global warming action and
confronting it on campus, with the tools they already use in their daily life:
Their webcam, their cell phone, and their video camera. National Wildlife Federation has partnered
with www.GoGreenTube.com and they are
looking for the best videos of global warming solutions on campus. For each
video that is watched by a GoGreenTube community member, Go Green Tube offsets
one pound of carbon through Carbon Fund. Not only can you watch great green videos, but
you can offset carbon sitting in front of your computer.
National Wildlife Federation’s Campus Ecology program’s Chill Out competition is in its third
year of awarding and recognizing all the cool things students, faculty and
staff are doing to reduce the impacts of global warming.
“Colleges and universities are key places for demonstrating
to society how to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, the major culprit of
global warming,” says Julian Keniry, Director of Campus and Community
Leadership for the National Wildlife Federation. “Chill Out recognizes and celebrates the schools which are leading
the way to a more sustainable future.”
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to create a three
minute creative video about what they, their school, or their campus group is
doing or could do to reduce the impacts of global warming. Campus groups are eligible to win grant
funding and the opportunity to be featured in Chill Out: Campus Solutions to Global Warming, a nationwide
multi-media broadcast in April 2009.
Entrants will create the video and upload it to www.GoGreenTube.com, a new video sharing
site for all things green. GoGreenTube
LLC was founded in March 2008 and was launched in June 2008. GoGreenTube
strives to be the destination for the world to share and view "Green"
online videos that help provide important information about our environment,
green technologies, innovations, products, and services so we as governments,
corporations, organizations or individuals can "Go Green" using the
most effective means possible. National
Wildlife Federation and Go Green Tube have partnered together to encourage all
students to engage in climate action on campus and to share their stories with
the world.
The Chillout competition begins September 1st and the
deadline for entries is November 30, 2008. For complete information on the
contest and how your school’s contribution to the global warming solution can
receive national attention go to www.campuschillout.org.

Media Coverage
This whole green stuff is starting to catch on. Over the past year
we have seen a dramatic increase in green awareness and support,
especially in a media sense. One great example and one of the most
notable mentions to this would have to be the introduction of “Planet
Green” by Discovery channel.
Today I want to bring to your attention a great new media site that
was just launched in June. A great resource for green videos on the web
and could be quite handy to all you green bloggers out there. The site
is called Go Green Tube and the site essentially delivers what is in the name. A source for all videos “green”. Via the website “GoGreenTube
strives to be the destination for the world to share and view “Green”
online videos that help provide important information about our
environment, green technologies, innovations, products, and services so
we as governments, corporations, organizations or individuals can “Go
Green” using the most effective means possible”. Its a simple idea
and very convenient for us green bloggers to have a site that has great
videos. As seen above, I never get tired of the Will/George video on
global warming.
Really a great site to just watch and learn about anything green.
Post, upload, share, just a great way to spread the ever growing green
word.
Keep it Green,
Paul
